Increase Website Traffic - How to Post Your Hubs to Your Facebook and Twitter Accounts Automatically

Here's a little-known way to increase website traffic to your Hubs. Set this up once and there is no need to touch it again as you will see.

If you are like me you often forget to post your new Hubs to your Facebook and Twitter accounts. If you have a reasonable number of fans and followers you are missing a huge opportunity to publicize your new Hub to your adoring public and to drive visitors to your Hubs.

I will explain a simple way to connect your Hubpages RSS feed to your Facebook and Twitter accounts so that when you publish a new Hub it is automatically posted to these accounts. A shortened URL link is generated pointing back to your new Hub. A simple but very effective way to increase website site.

You may or may not have both a Facebook and a Twitter account. No problems as long as you have at least one of these. The software you will need to link everything together is Twitterfeed, and this is free. You also need the RSS feed for your Hubpages account. You can find it on your Profile page. Right Click over the 'Subscribe to your RSS feed' button and from the pop-up menu select 'Copy Link Location'. The link will look like this - http://pauleuro.hubpages.com/hubs/latest?rss . Your username will appear in place of pauleuro, which is me. Paste your RSS link to a text file for now.

First off login to your Facebook and Twitter accounts. Go to Twitterfeed.com and create an account. Now you have a shiney new account login to the 'Feed Dashboard' and click the 'Create New Feed' button. Name your feed whatever you like and enter your Hubpages RSS URL.

Click the 'Advanced Settings' option. You will need to check the 'Post Link' box so that links are automatically generated back to your Hub. For this you need a URL shortening service which you select from the drop down menu. I use bit.ly but there are several others to choose from including TinyURL and SnipURL.

To sign up with Bit.ly head over to http://bit.ly/a/sign_up and follow the instructions. You will need your bit.ly API key. This is free. You can find it at http://bit.ly/a/your_api_key . Copy and paste your user name and API to the bit.ly settings in your Twitterfeed account.

Now we will configure Twitterfeed to access our Facebook and Twitter accounts. Login to your accounts if you have not done so earlier. In Twitterfeed click the 'Authorize app' option, 'Authenticate' your Twitter account and then click the 'Create Service' button. Repeat the process to connect to your Facebook account. If you have done this correctly you should now see an 'Active Services' page. Job finished.

To see your increase website traffic system in action post a new Hub. If you have a reasonable number of fans and followers you can then expect a rush of traffic to your new Hub.

Interesting. I don't know too much about the RSS feeds yet. I usually automatically facebook it and twitter it after I publish anyway. I facebook it once to friends and then sometimes I facebook to our local newspaper facebook page and a few others. A shot in the dark I facebooked my Glorious Money Tree novel that I am working on to Julia Roberts facebook. She's got kids and its a story about kids. I twitter things more often to get more followers. I only facebook things once as I don't want to tick my friends and family off so just once for each hub.
